Directions Unit- overall

I have changed my script idea to be the freedom for young fathers, my storyline is basically a young father called jack meets up with the grandmother of his child, and looks after the little boy, he feels pressured and like he has no freedom which makes us sympathises with him. I have filmed it and it was quite a good concept i feel, the young baby was easy to work with and i was able to visualise the shots and able to direct my charracters well,

I overall have enjoyed this unit and the directions was quite simple once i had it all planed in my head.

Directions unit - Script synopsis

My script theme was based on 'freedom' so i basically thought of basing the main charracter of a boy who has recently become single and is feeling 'free' his character will be a comical one who is a bit of a laugh, I'm having the package to be a engagement ring that is no longer needed and is bring returned as a result of the relationship not working out, as a contrast I was going to have the second character as a 'sad' girlfriend quite upset compared to the 'lad' and free feeling boy who realised he made a mistake purposing, my style will have a comical feel and follows the journey of the boy. It will start with a upbeat tempo, portrayed by his personality but then quickly changes with the ex-partner comes in to give the ring back, I hope to show this through my directions and coverage of shots

Storytelling unit - Overall reflection

Overall i feel like the whole unit was very educational and i learnt a lot, watching Soft and other films showed the importance of storytelling, and subtle devices that can be used. The notes i made help me to create my story, i didn't enjoy the editing as much but overall i enjoyed the unit

This is Final Cut pro- the software I used to edit my film, i found it quite difficult for first, i could use the basics of it and add all the clips in but when it came to placing them in certain orders and editing with transitions. The sound i found quite hard because i had alot of clips that i needed to sound and talking from but not that actual footage. But after some help i managed to do it.
